Recreation

One of the most important ways to create a sense of belonging is to surround yourself with familiar activities and physical reminders of home.  People build identity through participation in (or simply appreciation of) recreational activities.  Music, dance, art, and games are important to the daily lives of Bowling Green’s Bosnian community, as they are to communities everywhere.  While Bosnian Americans take part in American popular culture, they also keep in touch with the culture of their home country, building a bridge between life in Bosnia and in Bowling Green.
